The 2015 North Carolina Wildlife Action Plan defines 41 priority habitats for the state. More information about this habitat can be found in Section 4.2.5.

Habitat Priorities

Surveys

  • Conduct surveys to detect presence and collect life history and abundance data for freshwater snails and crayfish, as there is limited information available on these species. (Surveys Priority)

Monitoring

Research

  • Gain a broad community-level perspective to simplify the in-stream flow assessments associated with hydropower projects. Research is needed to develop habitatsuitability criteria to aid in the assessments (Lobb and Orth 1991).
