Description

PROW Working Group is a consortium of conservation and research partners comprised of several federal & state agencies, NGOs, and universities to meet these needs for the declining Prothonotary Warbler (Protonotaria citrea), a top conservation priority species. The PROW WG was established in February 2014 following a meeting in Biloxi, Mississippi and currently represents researchers and collaborating across the breeding, migratory, and wintering range.

Mission

To identify gaps in knowledge and to promote science-based solutions for the conservation of Prothonotary Warblers and their habitats throughout the annual cycle.

Goals

  • Identify and fill knowledge gaps in the breeding, wintering, and migratory ecology of this species.
  • Measure vital rates and better understand full life-cycle dynamics to quantify threats and identify factors that limit population growth.
  • Develop an international conservation plan and implement conservation actions that reverse population declines.
