Description

Most abundant wintering populations in the Bahamas. Found that goat farming creates good wintering habitat for Kirtland's Warblers.

  • Keep vegetation short, early succession (ideal habitat types)
  • Goats require water (needed for warblers)
  • Goats fenced (doesn't impact surrounding habitat)
  • Generates income, cost-effective (demand for meat exceeds Bahama's production)

Goal

Ensure Kirtland's Warbler wintering habitat for 4,100+ birds

  • cost-effective
  • sustainable
  • build conservation capacity
